PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Account Profile project is a redesign of the Staples account profile experience for the Document Printing website. The account profile would take existing Staples API calls and create a new layout design using those parameters.
OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the account profile project were:
- Provide an easily accessible account management experience
- Create an experience that is personalized
- Create a design where users feel safe sharing personal identifying information
- Simplify the input of data for the user
- Comply with the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018
DESIGN WORKSHOP
I put together a design workshop and invited project team members from development, security, design, marketing, management, and leadership to help give input into the details of the project. We used a few different exercises such as the "How Might We?" exercise to dig deep into the problems and solutions. Some key questions and findings included:
- How can the design provide safety and encourage users to trust us?
- How do we give the users a positive experience in handling and customizing their data?
- How might we gather notifications and recent updates for users?
- How do we provide a sense of “me”, something like user initials in the user profile to help make it more personal?
- Custodianship of PII, comes with a increasing burden and lasts a long time

RESULTS
The project manager and leadership were very happy with the direction of the design. This project was paused due to Covid-19.
